Block 2 Case 4 - Immuno

A 23 year old female presents to the office with a rash on her face, complains of muscle pain / weakness and fatigue.  A battery of tests are run and she tests positive for syphilis despite never having sex. It is also noted that she has  ANA and Anti-ds-DNA antibodies. Recently she has noted blood in her urine and a foamy appearance to her urine. UA shows an elevated BUN/creatinine/protein.

What kind of rash is this?

Why did she have a false positive result for syphilis?

What is her diagnosis?

What type of hypersensitivity reaction causes the tissue damage?
